Roberto Clemente born 10:30am October 8, 2007 - 18.8 pounds (Dam: Design, Sire: Lancaster)

10:35

Roberto was born inside the barn on the gravel. I picked him up and put him out on the grass to dry.

Everyone is checking him out

First attempts

Always dicey getting those limbs to work..

Numerous tries...

Whoohoo!

A little unsteady - but up and moving!

Whoops

Willa is trying to tell Roberto that he has completely missed the breakfast supply!

Feeling good!

Only about 30 minutes into the world and he has claimed his space!

Willa Cather born 11am July 2, 2007 - 17.4 pounds (Dam: Tessa, Sire: Honus Wagner)

Lana helps Wila breath

Willa's breath was a bit raspy and she was doing some gurgling so Lana is helping out with some gravity.

The Family

Tessa (mom) on the left and Gertie (sis) on the right.

We Will We Will Rock YOU!

Cheering section of Mom and Sister help encourage Willa to her feet.

Catching Rays

All baby alpacas take time to sit in the sun and gather themselves after the birthing. Willa is drying herself and gaining strength to try to nurse.

Steady on her Feet!

Just a couple of hours after birth she is up, dry, refreshed from nursing and ready to tackle the world!

One day old!

Willa survived the intrusion of a vet check and is bright, healthy and gaining weight.

Jonas Salk was born at 1:10pm June 30, 2007 - 21.4lbs (Dam: Fiona, Sire: Felix)

Hi - I'm Jonas!

Still wet, Jonas is gathering himself for his first steps.

Gertie Introduces Herself

The whole herd goes through their introductions pretty quickly. Gertie goes back for a second "hello". She is looking forward to having someone to play with!

The birth is old news

Getting back to the daily business of eating yet more grass!

What's that you're drinking?

Jason helps put special non pesticide fly repellent on Jonas. Fiona checks out the bottle of iodine used to dunk Jonas' cord.

Stunning in the sunlight!

All dried off and full of himself! This son of Felix is already feeling like a champion!

It's a family portrait!

Rose took this wonderful picture. The sunlight tells the story of a sunny summer day - a great day to be a day old!
