Summer 2008 Babies Birthing Pics - Updated pics

June 21 11am Bill Mazeroski

11:00am Tessa had an easy delivery of a handsome 15 lb baby boy this morning on day 344! During the last several days it was apparent that Maz was warming up for his home run delivery.  You could clearly see the his elbows moving down the length of Tessa's belly as he moved about.   His much decorated daddy is Standing Ovation - his first!

Maz is named for the famed Pittsburgh Pirates player that amongst other notable baseball deeds, is renowned for a ninth inning home run in 1960's World Series against the Yankees.  Yah, Maz is all that!  His sire, Standing Ovation combined with dam, Tessa has produced a handsome rich brown boy with corkscrew fleece.  Watch him grow!

Tessa's Talkin

Just born, Maz takes it all in while his mom gives encouragement.

What a rude awakening!

You can still see some of the sack on Maz's back as he surveys his new world.

Tessa has her priorities!

Yah, all the moms are the same. Have baby. Eat. It's just like any other day to them!

Back legs first...

This seems to be the traditional first steps of all the babies. Back legs work first, then the front ones are added to the mix...

Home run!

Found the milk!! Tessa nods approval as Maz gets his first drink of milk!

June 8th 10am Christina Aguilera

10:00 Oh my!  10 days early (330 days)!  A gorgeous black/dark brown 1/2 accoyo baby girl couldn't wait one day longer and chose to pop into a hot summer's morning.  She is a strong 20.2 lb girl out of herdsire  Bellagio.     What?  You didn't know that Christina Aguilera was a Pittsburgh native???

Just born!

Fiona's birth was very easy- thank goodness! She is truly a pro!

Looking for milk..

It might seem obvious to me and you.. but every new cria spends some time trying to find the spigot!

Standing ovation

Everyone seems to give encouragement to Lera (short for Christina Aguilera) as she takes her first steps.

Being inspected

Gerty and Willa were extremely curious about their new herd mate!

Drying

It takes a good amount of time for any new cria to completely dry. Lera seems to enjoy doing it standing.
